Summer Leadership Camp
Caney Valley participates in the Kansas Electric Cooperatives (KEC) Leadership Camp at Steamboat Springs, Colorado, each July by sponsoring a high school junior from our service area. Youth from Kansas, Colorado, Oklahoma and Wyoming gather for a week in the beautiful Rocky Mountains to build leadership skills, visit local attractions, and make friends and memories that will last a lifetime.
Applications are due by mid-February of each year. The winner receives an all-expense-paid trip, plus a $250 scholarship to be paid the first semester of their college education. Congratulations to Luke Bellar and Tori Wittmeier, Howard, and Matthew Womacks, Atlanta, who were all selected to participate in the 2011 camp! We were excited to learn that Luke Bellar was selected by the other students to return next year as an ambassador from Kansas.
Scholarship Program
The Cooperative also provides seven scholarships to area high school seniors going on to college or a vocational-technical program. The $600 scholarships are paid out at $300 each semester of the first year. Applications are due by March 31st of each year.
